Frequently Asked Questions

If your questions are not answered below, please contact me directly.

How much do you charge?

I work on a rate of $45 AUD per hour with basic websites starting at $1,500. You can get a general idea of pricing by looking at some of my previous projects.

A list or requirements and an agreed amount will be determined at the beginning of a project, any additional changes will be quoted as requested. A non refundable deposit of 30% of the initial quoted price must be paid up front on projects over $500.00 and incremental payments for every 50 hours completed on your project. Balance of payment must be received before your website is made available to the public.

If you require me to organise webhosting and domain registration on your behalf, these costs must be paid up front.

Note GST is not payable on my design fees but may be payable on hosting and domain costs.

Can I see some designs before I decide to hire you?

I regard this as spec work and it's generally frowned upon by professional designers, myself included.

If my previous work is not enough to convince you that I can produce the solution you require, then it's best you move on.

How long will it take to build my website?

This will of course depend on the size and type of website. A single page website could be ready in two days, while a large site that requires custom backend programming may take weeks or even months to build. An estimated time frame will be provided in your initial quote.

How do I provide you with content for my website?

Content should be supplied electronically (via email or CD-ROM) in a plain text format with as little pre formatting as possible. Images and graphics should be as large as possible and provided in a windows PC compatible format such as .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png, .tga or .tif. Images should not be embedded into word documents or pdfs. Any content that I must enter into the computer manually by typing or scanning will incur additional cost at the regular hourly rate.

Can you update my website and how much will it cost?

Yes I can update your website for you, this is charged at the rate of $45/hr. If you require major updates (for example new pages) I may provide you with a quoted amount up front.

Can I update the website myself?

Content management systems can be integrated into your website to allow anyone to update portions of your website at any time with minimal technical knowledge, by simply entering information into regular web forms. This functionality can be added at additional cost.

Where will my website be hosted?

Your website will be hosted through Digitalhost, one of Australia's most trusted hosting companies. For your convenience I can organise webhosting and/or domain registration on your behalf. Payment for these services must be made up front. Subsequent annual payments can be made directly to Digitalhost.

You are more than welcome to use your own preferred web host, however some web sites may require a particular hosting environment and using your own web host may incur additional cost if your website must be modified to be compatible with your web host.

Who will provide support if my website stops working?

Any problems arising from the original code of your website will be handled by myself. Support for your web hosting and domain name will be provided by Digitalhost or your preferred web host.
